I believe a strong community is one where people can afford to live, families have opportunities to grow, our infrastructure can keep pace with development, and our agricultural land is protected for future generations.
My platform is focused on the issues I believe matter most to the future of our community, and on finding practical solutions that work for all who live here.
Affordable housing for young families
Supporting those who need it most
Protecting our Agricultural Land
Affordable Housing
Young families should be able to afford to live in the community they call home. As housing costs continue to rise, we need to look at ways to encourage more attainable housing options that people actually want to live in.
That means supporting a variety of housing types and sizes, while making sure new development is thoughtfully planned and fits within our existing communities. We need housing that gives young people and growing families an opportunity to put down roots, rather than forcing them to look elsewhere.
I want to support responsible growth that creates more housing choices while maintaining the character and quality of life that make our community a great place to live.
Community Support
A strong community also looks after the people who are struggling.
We need to continue looking for practical ways to increase access to affordable and low-income housing and support initiatives that can help address homelessness in our community. Everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home.
Municipal government can't solve this issue alone, but we can be part of the solution by working with community organizations, regional partners and other levels of government to identify opportunities and make better use of the resources available to us.
Protect agricultural land
Agriculture is an important part of our community, our economy and our identity. Having a strong agricultural background, I understand the importance of protecting the land that allows local farmers to do what they do best.
As our community grows, we need to balance development with responsible land-use planning and make sure we're not unnecessarily sacrificing valuable agricultural land.
We can support growth while still protecting the agricultural lands and rural character that make Woodstock and Oxford County unique.
Investing in infrastructure before we fall behind
Keeping our youth active & connected
Investing in Infrastructure
Growth brings opportunity, but it also brings responsibility.
Our roads, water and wastewater systems, drainage infrastructure and other municipal assets need to keep pace with the community around them. If we don't plan ahead and invest appropriately, we risk falling behind and catching up later will only become more expensive.
I want to see infrastructure planning that looks beyond today and considers where our community will be 10, 20 and 30 years from now. Responsible growth means making sure the infrastructure is there to support it. f
ACTIVE & CONNECTED YOUTH
Our young people are the future of our community, and they deserve opportunities to get involved, stay active and build connections close to home.
Sports, recreation and community events do more than keep kids buys; they build confidence, friendships and teamwork and a sense of belonging. I know firsthand how important sports can be in bringing people together, having grown up participating in youth and high school sports myself.
I want to support opportunities for youth to participate in sports, recreation and social events, while looking for ways to make these activities accessible to more families.
A community that gives young people places to go, things to do and opportunities to connect is a community investing in its future.
